Castle Geyser
Upper Geyser Basin

The sinter cone for Castle Geyser was dated to around 1022 using the carbon 14 dating method. This date is much younger than some scientist had presumed.  These scientist had previously guessed an age of 5000 to 15000 years. The cone appears to have gone through four to five distinct stages to reach its current design.
