As you can see,  is a popular swimming hole just north of Mammoth Hot Springs.  The trailhead lies on the 45th parallel, half way between the equator and the North Pole.  The easy trail that follows the west bank of the Gardner River to a hot springs. The hot springs flows over travertine rocks into the cool river, creating a swimming area with hot pools, small waterfalls and lush green vegetation. The river is heated by underground water that flows from Mammoth Hot Springs.
