New Trail and Visitor Facilities

New Parking, Information, and Restroom Facilities at the new trailhead.

A new parking and trail system allows the General Sherman Tree to be experienced in its full majesty, in a more tranquil setting.  All the photographs on this page are of the new General Sherman trail area.

Sherman Tree Trailhead (above)

Visitors now reach the General Sherman Tree from a new parking area and .8 mile round-trip trail located off the Wolverton road.  A shuttle service from the new parking area is available for those who can't or don't want to walk the new trail.  The NPS map below shows the layout of the new parking area and trail system.  Map © NPS.
