![]() You may really enjoy the hike to Snow Lake & Bench Lake. Both lakes are on the same trail. This hike is highly recommend. The day these photos of the hike were taken It was overcast, so Mount Rainier was partially covered in clouds. It also made the photography a little trickier, at least as far as getting any outstanding pictures. ... but I think you'll still enjoy this photo tour of the hike. It's only 1.1 mile to Snow Lake. After you pass the sign you hike along the road for a very short distance and then curve sharply to the right. The photo to the right is what the trail looks like at that point. The climb is fairly steep for a short distance here. |
Then you come upon this lovely meadow scene. As you walk to the spot where the trail in the meadow disappears... |
After following the trail along the Bench ridge for a few minutes you'll come upon this scene. The small pond below is just to the left of Bench Lake. If you look real hard, you can see a very small bit of Bench Lake between some trees in the right side of the photo. |
As you look up slightly to the right from the pond, you can see the northern and eastern landscapes of the park and beyond (photo below). |
