Old Post Office Tower

The Old Post Office Tower soars to 315 feet, making it the largest commercial building and third in height among the buildings of the Nation’s Capital. It's a major example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and was the first building incorporating a steel frame in Washington DC.

In 1914, the District of Columbia Mail Depot was moved to a larger building constructed next to Union Station. Although only 15 years old, the building at 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue was dubbed the "old" post office.
