Washington DC
|
The Old Post Office Tower soars to
315 feet, making it the largest commercial building and third in height
among the buildings of the Nation’s Capital. It's a major example of
Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and was the first building
incorporating a steel frame in Washington DC. |

In 1914, the District of Columbia
Mail Depot was moved to a larger building constructed next to Union
Station. Although only 15 years old, the building at 12th Street and
Pennsylvania Avenue was dubbed the "old" post office. |
