Kings Canyon National Park
California

Kings Canyon originally called General Grant National Park was the third National Park in the United States.  Sequoia National Park which shares it's border with Kings Canyon was the second National Park.

Although Congress created these two parks at different times, Sequoia and Kings Canyon share miles of boundary and are managed today as one park.

The Nations Christmas Tree

President Calvin Coolidge, designated the General Grant Tree as the Nation's Christmas Tree
on April 28, 1926

The General Grant is the third largest tree in the world.  It has been designated a National Shrine, the only living memorial to Americans who died in war.  The largest tree is the General Sherman Tree in Sequoia National Park.
