Hovenweep National Monument

Hackberry Group

About 2/10ths of a mile from Horseshoe House is the Hackberry Site. As many as 250 to 350 people may have lived here.  Archeologists conjecture that Hackberry canyon may have had one of the largest populations of all the Hovenweep units because of the constant seepage of water in the canyon.  There are still two active springs at the site today.
