Three Visitor Centers are located within the national park at Cades Cove, Oconaluftee, and Sugarlands. There is a free 20-minute film about the park available as well as extensive natural history exhibits. Inside the facility is also located a Great Smoky Mountains Association bookstore and gift shop. There's Public restrooms, telephones, and Soda and water machines. You can also get a backcountry permit here. |

Tuliptree (above) The Tuliptree, or Yellow Poplar is the big tree of the Smokies' forest - reaching up to 200 feet tall and more that 6 feet across. A pioneer family could build an entire cabin from one tree.
