Inside Tao House
The Living Room and Stairs

While Eugene O'Neill concentrated almost exclusively on his plays, his wife Carlotta Monterey, concentrated her efforts on Tao House.  She combined a Spanish colonial exterior of adobe-like blocks with an interior of deep blue ceilings, red doors, and tiled or black-stained floors  She furnished the house with Chinese furniture.  She called Tao House her "pseudo-Chinese house."
