Erie Canalway Heritage Corridor

Not only did the Erie Canal open the American interior to increased trade, commerce, and settlement. It also became an "information superhighway" for new ideas. Social reforms like abolitionism, women's rights, utopianism, and various religious movements thrived in the canal corridor. 

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor offers recreational and educational opportunities throughout the year.  There are activities that occur both on and off the water.  Boaters, bicyclists, joggers, history buffs, fishing hobbyists, picnickers, and others can all find fun and enjoyment along the Corridor.
