It's important to realize how long
it takes to get the Needles District by car. Most people stay in the
town of Moab. It's about 150 mile round trip from Moab to the
district. When looking at a map, many people don't realize this, and
are surprised, when they have less time to spend in the park or arrive
much later than they expected. The National Park Service website
provides the following directions: On US Highway 191, drive 40 miles
south of Moab or 14 miles north of Monticello, then take
Utah Highway 211 roughly 35 miles west. Highway 211 ends in the
Needles, and is the only paved road leading in and out of the district. |
