The trail
reaches the canyon bottom 1 1/4 miles from the trailhead and follows
Barrier Creek south. Once you
hit the bottom of the canyon, it’s almost two miles of easy walking to the
Great Gallery, but there are three other panels along the trail. The
first and only panel on the left (east side) of the canyon is called the
High Gallery. It is fairly high up on the cliff and
would be easy to miss if there wasn't a sign just past the short trail to
its base. |

Slightly
upstream from High Gallery, on the right (west) canyon wall, is the second
site, Horseshoe Gallery. Explore around Horseshoe Gallery and
you will find plenty of hidden pictographs. To the right of the main
panel is a small hill of jumbled rocks with a very short trail around the
right side of it that leads to the top of the rock mound. At the top
you will see more drawings; and it's a great place to photograph the main
panel from a unique angle.
The third site,
Alcove Gallery, is 1/2 mile upstream from Horseshoe Gallery also on
the right (west) side of the canyon. You have to take a small side
trail up on to a small ledge to view this site. |

When you round the final
bend in the canyon and spot the huge red figures on the canyon wall called
the Great Gallery, you will know that you
have arrived in a extraordinary place. |
