Ponderosa Canyon is named for
the huge Ponderosa Pines on the canyon floor. Some of these trees measure
more than 5 feet in diameter and tower to heights of over 150 ft.
From high above at the viewpoint you would never know this. In fact
many visitors are confused by the name since the trees at the viewpoints
elevation consist mostly of Blue Spruce and Douglas-fir. |
