The trail traverses the top of this fin with steep drop-offs on each side (above)

Portions of the Devil's Garden trail traverse slick rock fins and other sandstone formations.  Steve Schmorleitz, chief webmaster of this site, hiked this trail in the winter during a snow storm and icy weather.  After the experience, he agrees with the National Park Service, and highly recommends that you do not hike this trail if the area is snowy or icy.  Doing so is extremely dangerous.
